Hem Jeans by a Sewing Machine Using Blind Hem Fold
A blind hem fold is a sewing technique that is used to create a nearly invisible hem. It is mostly commonly found in formalwear, skirts, trousers, and curtains. It involves folding the fabric in a way that the stitches are hidden from the outside which gives your garment a clean and professional look.
Step 1: Prepare hems for blind stitching with the sewing machine
Before we head toward the machine make sure your pants are inside out. You just need to tuck the hem in and under and then pin it up. Do this all the way around.
Step 2: Attach a Blind Hem Foot to your Sewing Machine
Now it’s time to move toward the machine.
- First, you check how your stitch looks on a piece of cloth by selecting the blind hem. These stitches followed a path of a zig-zag pattern, this pattern holds your blind hem together.
- Attach a blind hem foot with your machine. It is not necessary to specially attach the blind hem foot but this thing makes your work easy because it already provides you instructions. Remove the extension table and you are going to use the free arm part of the sewing machine.
Step 3: Start sewing
Put the folded hem under the blind hem foot. When you are ready to go after adjusting correctly start sewing. The zig-zag stitch will catch the fabric on the folds.
